Infra-Structure is a go-anywhere, do-anything lighting system for delivering illumination precisely where it’s needed. What more could you want? General ambient lighting, focused down lighting, targeted spotlights – Infra-Structure does it all with a 24-volt tubular framework of extruded aluminum and magnetic fixtures that can be added, repositioned and removed in a snap.

“The real beauty of Infra-Structure is that it’s an off-the-shelf solution, but it looks bespoke.” – Theo Richardson

The brainchild of Vincent Van Duysen, Belgium’s reigning king of earthy minimalism, the system is inspired by Bauhaus architecture, and feels compellingly straightforward despite the technological wizardry involved. Gone are the fussy fasteners and distracting components prevalent in so many track lighting systems. In their place hangs a rectilinear network of pipes with a pleasingly industrial feel, sprouting clutter-free luminaires.

Whereas many minimalists are focused on making fixtures disappear, which is typically achieved by dropping ceilings, Van Duysen’s solution does the opposite: Infra-Structure makes a bold sculptural statement overhead. The design can be easily customized through the spacing of rails and connecting components, and it has the flexibility to expand from a single line of fixtures into a grand, ceiling-spanning installation. That versatility makes the system a truly illuminating proposition.
