To celebrate the inauguration of their Frank Gehry-designed headquarters, Facebook invited a few notable Instagrammers to explore the 40,000-square-metre structure. (Mark Zuckerberg’s company bought Instagram for a cool $1billion in cash and stock back in 2012). These photographers then posted their snapshots online using the hashtag #mpk20 – the local nickname for Building 20 at Facebook’s Menlo Park campus.

Their images reveal a series of very open spaces, many retaining an industrial feel, and bursting with colour. Although the interior finishes are raw – exposed I-beams, plywood and polished concrete floors – vivid murals and art installations are everywhere, complemented by a diverse and carefully curated selection of contemporary furnishings.

Building 20 is only the latest of Gehry’s designs for Facebook’s Menlo Park campus. The social media giant first moved into green-roofed Gehry-designed buildings on site five years ago. Building 20, certified LEED Gold, is large enough to hold 2,800 employees.
