The auto company’s swooping structure, by HENN Architekten, stretches out over the lagoon at the Autostadt theme park in Wolfsburg, Germany.

In a nod to the automaker’s slick rides, HENN has created a daring structure with a wave-shaped roof that cantilevers 25 metres over the water. It’s clad in 620 sheets of matte-finished stainless steel affixed to a welded rib frame prefabricated in a Straslund ship-yard.

Beneath the spectacular roof, a carved set of stairs accommodates a few hundred visitors. This open space offers views of the WES-designed landscape that integrates seamlessly with the existing park greenery.

Inside, two doors lead to 400 square metres of exhibition space. A ramp connecting the entranceways expands to reveal a stage for Porsche’s most celebrated designs. For instance, the first Porsche, a two-seater roadster called the 356 No. 1, kicks off a display of 25 silvery miniatures.
