1 The lounge by guest of honour Ilse Crawford
Known for a number of impeccable hospitality projects in the city – including both restaurants in the Grand Hotel, as well as the interiors in the luxury hotel Ett Hem – the founder of London’s Studioilse will create a lounge in the entrance hall at Stockholmsmässan to greet show-goers. No doubt Crawford will fill the lounge with her most notable pieces, including lighting for Swedish manufacturer Wästberg and high-backed seating for De La Espada.

 

2 Inside Scandinavian Design exhibition
Driving the Scandinavian aesthetic is a dedication to craftsmanship – which is key to the furniture industry in Sweden and beyond. This feature by design duo Färg & Blanche will illustrate how the relationship between construction and production are evolving and addressing environmental issues, while upholding longstanding design values.

 

3 The Northern Light Fair
Connected to the main event, this lighting expo will showcase new fixtures from the likes of Flos, Luceplan and Vita. Makers With Agendas will debut the felt-wrapped Bat lamp, designed by one of the collective’s founders, the Danish architect Julien De Smedt. The versatile piece can be hung as a pendant or used as a wall, desk or floor lamp.

 

4 Exciting new brands
Last year, renowned Swedish designer Alexander Lervik launched Tingest, his own brand of tableware, with the modular, multi-tiered Servitören tray as it centrepiece. In 2015, he updates the collection with a range of pieces from such names as Folkform, Broberg & Ridderstråle, Sanna Trotsman and Astrid Olsson, the the founder of fashion label Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair.

 

5 Muuto-mania
The Danish brand Muuto has worked hard to promote Nordic design in the past years. The latest from collection includes the simple and streamlined Base table, with an extruded aluminum frame, and new additions to the Stacked family of shelving modules, now offered in two shades of grey.

 

6 Sustainable furniture from Zanat
Zanat is a sustainability focused brand which partners Scandinavian designers with a Bosnian company that has been making wood furniture since the 1800s. Its modern pieces debuted last month at IMM in Cologne. The line, including Monica Förster’s Unna Chair (shown), will appear in Stockholm alongside a photography exhibit documenting the unique carving techniques used to form the pieces.

 

7 Colourful furniture by Offecct
Though natural materials, such as pale wood, dominate the minimalist Scandinavian look, punches of colour are a key characteristic. No Swedish brand does playfulness better than Offecct, which will launch the candy-hued Caramel side table (shown), and coordinating modular sofa system, by Claesson Koivisto Rune.
