Canadian painter Agnes Martin receives the retrospective treatment, with an exhibit that will fill the Guggenheim rotunda with works ranging from her early experiments of the 1950s through her mature oeuvre and final paintings. Martin is best known for her minimal and precise canvases, and especially her signature grid-pattern works, which the show’s curators describe as “radical presentations of interlocking horizontal and vertical lines in pencil on large square canvases that at first seem to appear blank.” The exhibit is supported by clothing brand COS, which will also debut an Agnes Martin-inspired capsule collection, on sale at the Guggenheim.
