Job Description

HOK is currently recruiting a Graphic Designer in our Houston office.  With preliminary direction from Graphic Design Manager and/or Director, provide marketing design ideas, including design concepts, communicating the team’s message into 2D/3D graphics, degree of interactivity, designing presentation graphics, using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, After Effects, and Acrobat; analyze detailed sketches, notes, or other input material to transfer graphic design marketing collateral, complex design thoughts into appropriate visual design and presentation formats, including Microsoft Office applications; coordinate conceptualization, presentation materials output, detailing and artwork production with designers and managers; work with the Marketing Manager and Director of Business Development to develop new sales tools and promotional materials from conceptual design through production; assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive communications system in accordance with firm wide elements, standards, guidelines and templates designed to strengthen and unify the firm’s corporate and visual identity using different marketing media including print, collateral materials, architectural graphics, and client presentations; design 2D/3D graphics and marketing materials, including direct mail, collateral, proposals, brochures, labels, posters, postcards, multimedia presentations, and packaging for branding; create, edit, and/or acquire all necessary graphics for print, electronic and website use; utilize Deltek Vision database for marketing production and information management; maintain and update the image library database utilizing Open Asset; prepare and issue external communications for the Office in the form of direct mail, and e-blasts; strategize with the local office Managing Principal on the development and implementation of marketing plans for the office; coordinate production of designed marketing materials, coordinating with existing print vendors and finding new vendors as necessary; create and edit layout for e-magazine and catalogs; update web content, image editing for website; design graphic layout for website.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or Graphic Communications or foreign equivalent plus 3 years of experience to include provided marketing design ideas, including design concepts, communicating the team’s message into 2D/3D graphics, degree of interactivity, designing presentation graphics, using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, After Effects, and Acrobat; analyzed detailed sketches, notes, or other input material to transfer graphic design marketing collateral, complex design thoughts into appropriate visual design and presentation formats, including Microsoft Office applications; coordinated conceptualization, presentation materials output, detailing and artwork production with designers and managers; worked with the Marketing Manager and Director of Business Development to develop new sales tools and promotional materials from conceptual design through production; assisted in developing and maintaining a comprehensive communications system in accordance with firm wide elements, standards, guidelines and templates designed to strengthen and unify the firm’s corporate and visual identity using different marketing media including print, collateral materials, architectural graphics, and client presentations; designed 2D/3D graphics and marketing materials, including direct mail, collateral, proposals, brochures, labels, posters, postcards, multimedia presentations, and packaging for branding; created, edited, and/or acquired all necessary graphics for print, electronic and website use; maintained and updated the image library database utilizing Open Asset or Celerant; prepared and issued external communications for the Office in the form of direct mail, and e-blasts; coordinated production of designed marketing materials, coordinating with existing print vendors and finding new vendors as necessary; created and edited layout for e-magazine and catalogs; updated web content, image editing for website; designed graphic layout for website.
