Living Deep, the highly-curated online marketplace that urges customers to “buy less stuff,” opens their International Product Design Competition for the Home and Office.

Calling emerging and established designers alike to redefine what green means in their spaces, the competition will allow entrants to submit their plans for new products for the home and office that help make day to day life more sustainable. The winning design will be brought to life by the team behind Living Deep using responsible materials and production for a truly deep green product.

Living Deep, which recently debuted the Living Deep Collection – exquisitely designed furniture produced in the United States and entirely biodegradable with nearly zero waste – offers ecologically and socially responsible goods with a mission to raise the bar on sustainable luxury and consumer education. The marketplace is the brainchild of world renowned Jason F. McLennan [winner of the Buckminster Fuller Prize and creator of The Living Building Challenge, the world’s most stringent green building standard], and business partner Scott James.

Prize

Grand Prize winners in each product category of the International Product Design Competition for the Home and Office will not only have their products created by the Living Deep team and made available for retail under the Living Deep Collection brand with a co-created product name, but will also receive the prototype product for their personal collection, 5% of product sales of their winning design for two years and an opportunity to collaborate on further designs with Jason F. McLennan. Honorable mentions will also be awarded in each category and will receive cash or gift certificates to the Living Deep marketplace and a chance to have their product created through a separate crowdfunding process alongside the winner of the publicly-voted Popular Pick product.

Submission Requirements

To enter, designers will be asked to submit their product plans, including sketches and renderings, product notes and a 500-word written statement detailing what makes your product unique, the problems it solves for yourself and others in the home and product inspiration. Notes on desired environmental attributes must also be included. Designers can submit their concepts across ten categories, including: Active Living, Bath & Beauty, Bedroom, Décor, Furniture, Home Office, Kids, Kitchen, Lighting and Pets, with no limit to the number of submissions.
