The Vitra Design Museum opened on November 3, 1989 – only a few days before the historic fall of the Berlin Wall. Thirty years later, the Vitra Schaudepot presents “After the Wall: Design since 1989”. The exhibition charts design from the past three decades, examining how it has been shaped by the various cultural, political and technological shifts of the period. A selection of iconic design objects will be juxtaposed with furniture by leading designers including Philippe Starck, Hella Jongerius and Konstantin Grcic. Offering an up-to-date survey of the most recent period in design history, the exhibition will also give visitors a glimpse of its future.
