Inaugurated on April 1, 2020, Design in Dialogue is a series of online interviews hosted alternately by Friedman Benda curator and historian Glenn Adamson and designer Stephen Burks. Conversations are held on Zoom EVERY WEDNESDAY for 1 hour, beginning at 11AM EASTERN STANDARD TIME, including a participatory Q&A. Please join leading voices from the field — designers, makers, critics, and curators — as they discuss their work and ideas.
For our 100th episode, Friedman Benda welcomes the great SHEILA HICKS. Over the course of her six-decade career, Hicks has evolved a practice of grand dimension and profound implication. Drawing on textile traditions worldwide, she creates works ranging from the miniature to the monumental, offering wholly new vantages on key artistic variables: structure, materiality, color, texture, space.
