Frayed, taking place at the A+D Museum, promises an alluring distraction from the banality of hard lines and boxes. Hard lines are disintegrated and their legibility is shifted into the realm of painterly thick brush strokes. Figures work as objects, but are distracted by detail, agitation and intricacy. These manoeuvres aim to blur and distort massiveness and monumentality. In a world of lies, misconceptions, illusions and allusions, architecture that adds fuzz, friction and distortion is unavoidable and enticing.
