IDS 2024 future neighbourhood

The Interior Design Show 2024 (IDS) returns with its immersive and renowned flagship trade show, IDS Toronto. This landmark event promises to be an inspiring showcase of cutting-edge concepts, transformative trends, and visionary designs, as it explores the limitless possibilities of the future of design.

Exhibitors:

Exhibitors this year include industry-leading design brands such as Montauk, Obakki, ARD Outdoor, BLANCO, House of Rohl, Objects & Ideas, and many more. Additionally, the curated furniture section Select returns in partnership with Interface, bringing international brands including European heavyweight Andreu World (through Founded by Garcia) and newly launched Spanish company Lebom.

Features:

The Future Neighbourhood:

Six design teams – including Interior Architects (IA), Noam Hazan, Safoura Zahedi, SDI Design with Q4 Architects, SVN, and Syllable Design – explore how interior design will continue to adapt and shape our lives. The inspiration for this feature is the city of Toronto, which is made up of distinct neighbourhoods. Visitors will walk down a central street in the Future Neighbourhood, then enter each installation, experiencing design solutions to problems including the housing crisis; the ever-evolving crossover of work and living spaces; ageing in place; and the introduction of technology into different interiors.

Studio North and Prototype:

In Studio North, independent product designers exhibit their custom and one-off creations (including furniture and lighting, glass and ceramics, textiles and décor objects) within a gallery-like setting. In Prototype, a platform within Studio North, there will be products featuring that are not currently in production and which address new ideas for the residential market. Past prototypes have featured both to-market and conceptual works.

The District:

A marketplace for designers to show and sell to discerning consumers and industry insiders, while providing showgoers with a curated marketplace that features fresh collections of design products for the home.

LIV Design Studio – ‘The Art Of Outdoor Living’ 2023 Student Design Challenge:

Interior design students across Canada have been asked to design an outdoor patio space, responding to the increased importance of these spaces post-pandemic. Three finalists will be chosen by a panel of expert judges to have their designs rendered into hyper-realistic 3D models by LIV Design Studio’s in-house CG team. These will then be viewable through dedicated augmented-reality portals where attendees will be able to interact with and vote for their favourite design. Final placements and a new people’s choice award (voted on by IDS attendees) will be revealed onstage at IDS Toronto 2024, at the event’s conclusion.
