The role

To provide overall design leadership and manage the design process throughout regarding project programme and cost impact ensuring that project requirements and expectations are met and where possible exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor design programmes
  • Manage and coordinate the external architects ensuring the design outcome matches the Company’s demand and cost-control requirements and timescales are achieved.
  • Assign tasks to the external Architect, setting targets for them to be accomplished.  Manage drawings, specifications and instructions issued and received.
  • Facilitate and manage the ownership/resolution of system interfaces
  •  Manage design change regarding project programme and cost impact
  •  Compile and manage the project schedules of non-compliance
  • Manage the close out of all technical queries
  • Manage the delivery of the design
  • Utilise DFMA principles
  • Ensure others carry out their responsibilities under H&S legislation and R&F Group Directives
  • Ensure commonality of design where applicable
  • Manage feedback and reporting on production design process
  •  Involved in due diligence and setting up master plan for any new projects together with other in-house teams.
  • Ensure the design information is sufficient, complete and timely to meet the needs of manufacture, assembly and production delivery
  • Advise on pre-assembly, manufacture and assembly as appropriate
  • Ensure buildability is of primary concern to the designers and ensure that agreed strategies for maximising standardisation, modularisation, off–site fabrication and integrated sub-assemblies are reflected within the projection design
  • Manage and monitor the production design delivery programme
  • Manage the reporting process of design delivery
  • Implement basic practice to manage risk and apply appropriate best practices to create opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Manage the design process to ensure compliance with agreed project strategies on planning, the environment, risk, safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified, with 7 or more years’ experience in architect consultancy or in the role of design management in property development company.
  • Having significant working experience with main contractors or on high-rise building and mixed used project.

  • Ability to self-motivate and drive projects through to completion
  • Exceptionally high standards and attention to detail
