Fisher & Paykel is searching for an intermediate-senior level creative-thinking Industrial Designer to create solutions with genuine customer value in mind. Tasked with being the voice for Fisher & Paykel customers, the selected candidate will be responsible for providing a continuous stream of innovative, useful, and beautiful products that enhance the brand.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Industrial Design, an Industrial Designer at Fisher & Paykel will:
- Be part of a team that is instrumental in the delivery of a customer insight led product development vision.
- Have the opportunity to work on a range of current and future products.
- Be responsible for achieving projects within a team of Industrial Designers.
- Collaborate across the Fisher & Paykel team of product development engineers.
- Serve as the voice of design and brand for product design decisions.
Skills/Qualifications
- Experience working within a Product Development environment.
- Ability to demonstrate aesthetic maturity, self-drive and adjustment to tight schedules.
- Sound understanding of mechanics, kinematics, manufacturing processes and materials.
- Confidence in communicating both visually and verbally.
- Experience working collaboratively with other specialists to develop new designs with both new and existing manufacturing processes.
- Some experience in model-making and prototyping, creating quick prototypes and more refined visual models is highly desirable.
- Proficiency using design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, parametric CAD modelling such as PTC Creo and rendering packages such as Key-shot.
- A degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Design or Product Design is essential for Fisher & Paykel employees.
