Public Art Fund, New York’s leading presenter of contemporary art in public spaces, seeks a Graphic Designer to oversee its brand identity and develop and manage all print, digital, and web design projects for the organization. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategies, they are a key member of the Communications team, who will collaborate with members of all departments including Curatorial, Exhibitions, Development, and Creative Partnerships.

The successful candidate is creative and thoughtful with an ability to respond to existing brand guidelines to ensure brand consistency. They are also sensitive to the challenges inherent in presenting art outdoors in spaces where the public might encounter it unexpectedly and to the nuances of Public Art Fund’s broad audience and diversity of exhibitions. They will be a creative and strategic thinker with a collaborative spirit and focus on effective communication and meeting deadlines.


  • Oversee and enhance Public Art Fund’s brand identity
  • Develop designs and manage relationships with printers/vendors for all Public Art Fund initiatives, including:
    • Exhibition graphic identities and collaterals:
      • Outdoor signage, advertisements (print and digital), website collaterals, event invitations
      • Partnership proposals
      • Merchandise
    • Institutional materials:
      • Annual magazine (print and digital)
      • Digital communications including e-newsletters
      • Institutional marketing and advertising campaigns
      • Social media collaterals
    • Development materials:
      • Proposal decks
      • Patron Group materials
      • Membership promotions and collaterals
      • Event materials
    • Annual “year- end” campaign solicitation brochure
  • Manage calendars and deliverables for design elements
  •  Oversee contract freelancers as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Arts/Design or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience designing graphics for another museum or arts organization, with a portfolio of work
  • Fluency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; knowledge of HTML and CMS systems; familiarity with Mailchimp and Eventbrite
  • Strong project management and production skills
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative style; strong communication and presentation skills
  • Passion for Public Art Fund’s mission
