Teknion is currently hiring a full-time Industrial Designer for our North York, ON head office. We are looking for a dynamic industrial designer experienced in all aspects of design to work in a team environment to generate, develop and communicate appropriate new product design concepts and innovative product solutions that can be manufactured to cost targets and meet market needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new concepts and products and demonstrate their features, form and detailed application and restrictions in response to the product briefs and PDO.
- Evolve the design concept through a systematic process of model making, testing, analysis, and refinement to create a prototype of the product design.
- Participate in the cross-disciplinary project team(s) to collectively solve product design issues, including manufacturability, function, appearance, product application, etc and report back, to project team with significant design direction.
- Communicate and demonstrate the new product designs using models, CAD layouts, drawings and presentations.
- Present product concepts and design direction, both internally and externally in an informal and formal manner.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and standards as they relate to competitive product and design.
- Continually acquire knowledge of new product(s) and how they may be applied to various changing work environments.
- Keep Design Management aware of significant decisions, changes and progress updates.
Requirements:
- University degree or college diploma in Industrial Design.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience as a product designer.
- Working knowledge of computer applications related to design such as SolidWorks and Microsoft office.
- Basic project management skills.
- Sketching and model making.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes, materials, and human factors.
