Bartlett & Associates is seeking an Intermediate Designer to join the Toronto office. Currently in its 36th year of producing award-winning work, Bartlett & Associates is a boutique interior design firm with a reputation for quality and inventiveness. The team works in a collaborative, open-studio environment where every member makes essential creative contributions to projects, which include workspace, hospitality, retail, institutional and specialty interiors. Qualifications and Skills
Successful candidates will have a degree in architecture or interior design and 3 to 5 years of experience working in Canada for a recognized interior architecture or design firm. You should have a proven track record in creative design, team leadership and direct client interaction.
Other essential attributes include confidence and pride in your work, a self-starter attitude, and the ability to work well within a team. Familiarity with design details and knowledge of key Ontario Building Code requirements are of utmost importance – as is a sense of humour!
Applicants should have experience in selecting creative design elements, from furniture and fabrics to lighting fixtures and graphics. Producing rendered elevations and professional finishes boards is also part of the intermediate designer scope.
Your software capabilities should include extensive familiarity with AutoCAD and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Rhino and Bluebeam.
Responsibilities and Duties
In this position you will participate in all phases of the design cycle – feasibilities, schematic design, design development, working drawings, construction site visits and project close out – as well as detailed contract administration (shop drawings review, change notices, etc.).
Attention to detail and responsiveness to clients are hallmarks of the boutique experience offered to clients. Building strong relationships and trust is key and an ability to effectively communicate and interact with all of our partners – including clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers – is imperative to this role.
