Who We’re Looking For:

Responsibilities

  • Work with our clients to determine programming requirements and establish project goals + objectives. Co-ordinate with client, landlords, consultants and AHJ’s for project requirements.
  • Lead site surveys and thoroughly document and verify existing site conditions.
  • Integrate with Cutlers processes and design philosophies to deliver quality work.
  • Lead or support various projects with varying budgets, timelines and scope of services.
  • Build client relationships and participate in design presentations, business development pitches and ongoing project correspondence.
  • Provide space planning that corresponds to the functional programming, building code requirements and design objectives.
  • Prepare 3D modeling during design development to clearly convey the design intent to the client. Experience with rendering plug-ins an asset.
  • Select and specify materials and finishes that are appropriate to the project and application.
  • Specify furniture, lighting, fixtures & hardware and liase with our in-house procurement team.
  • Produce contract documentation for client review, permit applications, tender and construction that aligns with Cutler quality standards using CAD + REVIT.
  • Co-ordinate with and manage external team including engineers, consultants, vendors and general contractors.
  • Manage project team deliverables and maintain project schedules.
  • Actively participate in professional development and Cutler peer reviews.
  • Support or lead contract administration during + attend site visits for quality control and design conformance.

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Interior Design or Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in commercial tenant improvement projects
  • Registered or on the path to registration with IDIBC
  • A creative, passionate individual who is dedicated to their craft through professional development and industry involvement
  • A team player ready to work in a highly collaborative, exciting and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent at time management, organization and generating efficiencies along the way
  • Proficient in both CAD + REVIT for producing high quality construction documentation
  • Working knowledge of the latest BCBC and VBBL and ability to apply that knowledge to other codes and bylaws
  • Self-directed and able to work autonomously, knowing when to reach out for guidance and support
  • Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills
  • A compelling design portfolio and great references
