ZGF Architects is seeking a Jr. Graphic Designer to join our team in our Seattle, office. We are seeking a driven professional who desires an opportunity to grow their graphic design career in a collaborative, team-oriented, and multidisciplinary environment.

As a Jr. Graphic Designer, you will:

  • Be responsible for the planning, management, and delivery of graphics deliverables from concept through completion.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop multi-component design projects for marketing collateral, corporate identity systems, print and digital media, environmental graphics programs, and consumer experience environments.
  • Conduct research on clients’ brands, cultures, organizations, and unique requirements to inform custom design concepts. Develop creative solutions based on client feedback, guidelines, and overall vision.
  • Provide expertise and consultation on printing / production techniques, product details, graphic technology, and materials.
  • Oversee all project phases in the development of environmental graphics, including visioning, design, artwork packages, mock-ups, and fabrication / vendor coordination.
  • Ensure quality control of all graphic deliverables through approval of proofs, press checks, and testing of technology and materials before deployment.
  • Work in a fast-pace environment to generate a range of creative concepts prior to developing detailed and final solutions.
  • Develop, design, and creatively solve complex design challenges for environmental graphics, digital, and print.
  • Stay at the forefront of evolving design and technology trends by participating in educational and professional opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or related design, 1 to 6 years of professional experience.
  • Background in the architectural field, environmental graphic design, or user experience design.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Expertise in graphic tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, or 3D modeling programs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of material types, printing and production techniques, evolving technologies and software, and product details for environmental graphics, signage, print, and digital deliverables.
  • Proficiency in review of design details, such as typography, alignment, hierarchy, etc.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to execute complex projects and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to lead and manage design efforts with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take multiple, occasionally disparate ideas, and distill them in to a clear and compelling graphics.
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • A design approach based on deep research.
  • Experience designing for web and digital platforms. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and dynamic online platforms is a plus. Experience coordinating with print and fabrication vendors.
  • Ability to create or refresh brands and identities.
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure and meet tight deadlines; respond to and prioritize demands; be responsive to the time-critical nature of marketing, proposals and interviews.
  • Consistent pursuit of innovation in order to raise the bar.
  • Able to travel to other ZGF offices and/or client project locations as needed.
