Stantec’s Texas practice is seeking a Landscape Architect to join the Community Development Team. The successful candidate will work as a team member within the Community Development practice, including Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Engineering disciplines.


Your Opportunity

As a Landscape Architect, you will work in a team environment in the planning and design of parks and recreation facilities; bicycle, pedestrian, and multiuse trails; sports and athletic facilities; healthcare, corporate, and educational campuses; as well as master planned communities including mixed-use and transit-oriented developments.

Through demonstrated progressively responsible experience in landscape architecture, you have honed your planning and design-development skills on urban space, commercial, residential, roadway or green space projects. You will establish general landscape requirements; conduct preliminary site studies and assess potential to meet client specifications. As part of our team, you will collaborate with skilled professionals on projects ranging from initial planning to decommission.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Produce concept design development and provide cost estimating take-offs and summary, detail design services, contract document preparation and undertake various field services such as site inventories and construction inspection and reports
  • Translate concept plans through to design development plans
  • Prepare construction documents, using computer aided drafting (CAD), including layout plans, planting plans, irrigation plans, grading plans, details, construction detailing, cost estimates and specifications
  • May be required to develop Sketchup models and rendering
  • Prepare presentation, marketing drawings and supporting materials
  • Prepare presentation graphics, reports and exhibits for conceptual designs, master plans, client meetings, and workshops
  • Assist design team on a variety of design and development related projects, undertaking research and design-based development investigations
  • Communicate with other multidisciplinary team members on relevant aspects of projects
  • Conceptualize, design, and document landscape architectural designs
  • Prepare design documents including reports, drawings, and construction specifications for assigned projects
  • Serve as technical design expert for projects and work with other team members to develop and execute design
  • Communicate effectively with clients to resolve technical project issues; Present and explain reports and designs, and provide service to meet client’s goals
  • Coordinate with other members of the design team to finalize the design of the development
  • Effectively communicate with contractors to implement plan design
  • Conduct site investigations and construction administration activities
  • Assist in preparation of proposals

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Licensure as a Landscape Architect in Texas or pursuing licensure within 2-3 years
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of designs and construction documents including specifications
  • Demonstrated industry practice knowledge and commitment to excellence in client service
  • Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and how they apply to design projects
  • Knowledge of construction methods and experience in construction administration and on-site construction observation
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent design, graphic, computer, writing, and technical skills
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Proficient in relevant drafting/design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, Sketch-up, GIS, and Adobe Creative Suite is essential; Experience with Lumion, grasshopper, and Vray for Rhino is a plus

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited Landscape Architecture program
  • 3-7 years of experience
