ZGF is seeking a Mid-Level Urban Designer to join our team in our Vancouver office. We are looking for thoughtful individuals with excellent communication and design skills. The ideal candidate will have between 5-10 years of professional experience and will bring design excellence to every project.

As a Mid-Level Urban Designer, you will:

  • Perform assignments with general direction, no immediate supervision, and work independently as well as collaboratively with others toward design solutions
  • Assist in developing design and technical solutions for projects in all phases, including graphics, renderings, physical modeling, and performance metrics for the successful communication of the design goals
  • Provide production of design drawings, presentation drawings, and digital models in support of design teams
  • Research products and materials, review existing projects, and those under construction to inform the production of design documentation
  • Contribute to the effective performance of the project team regarding project quality, schedule, and budget
  • Assist in the execution of Construction Administration responsibilities and project close-out
  • Contribute to general office-wide initiatives and marketing efforts
  • Demonstrate motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges
  • Analysis and concept diagrams

Qualifications

  • You have a Landscape Architecture, Architecture Degree and/or Urban Design Degree
  • A creative problem solver with well-rounded Urban Design skills and the ability to work independently, with multi-disciplined teams, and balance multiple projects, often with short schedules and quick deadlines
  • Experience with complex multi-phased higher education, large transit, healthcare, civic and/or commercial development projects is desired
  • You are interested in honing your technical ability with materials and constructability
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite, Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to illustrate urban planning and design concepts graphically in a clear and effective manner
  • Organizational and critical thinking skills to create materials for engaging and creative presentations through storytelling
  • Knowledge of planning policies at a local and national level
  • Experience with Construction Documents and Construction Administration are preferred
