MUL-MAC are currently looking for an experienced Project Architect to join their Los Angeles team, with a focus on new construction. MUL-MAC is an Architecture, Interiors, and Design firm based in Los Angeles, focused on the design of custom residential homes, commercial and residential interiors, ground-up commercial and mixed-use, and adaptive re-use projects. They are a full-service firm, providing Programming, Design expertise, Construction Documentation and Construction Administration services.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate projects through all administrative and technical phases of design/construction project efforts.
  • Determine technical requirements for the design and manage client and consultant communication.
  • Organize research for product and construction methods related to projects.
  • Balance design intent with necessary code, programmatic, and budget needs. 
  • Resolve technical and design issues with the team.
  • Lead due diligence efforts with experience and understanding of which codes and regulations govern which aspects of projects.
  • Create organized documentation of the requirements established during the due diligence phase for dissemination to the team and studio, including code references for specific project parameters or decisions.
  • Have thorough CA experience in a primary capacity and has clear understanding of the requirements and process of successful project delivery during construction.
  • Provide mentorship and train junior staff members, review their work, and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Aware of and responsible for managing project schedules, deadlines, and milestones.
  • Lead the production of deliverables regarding the design and development of architectural projects, from conceptual design through construction documents and construction. administration, in collaboration with project consultants and clients.
  • Lead coordination with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies and integrate their input and requirements into the project design and documentation.
  • Define and manage budget & resources to ensure timely and successful project delivery. 

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline.
  • Eight or more years of professional experience required. 
  • Licensure required; State of California preferred.
  • Legal right to work in U.S. 

Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Revit is required. 
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles and standards.
  • Advanced documentation and field observational skills.
  • Advanced Interior Architecture detailing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead junior staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge of the following: Construction Documentation, Building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of Contract administration.
  • Be able to deliver multiple projects simultaneously, unless it is a large project requiring dedicated attention.  
  • Be able to manage and deliver small to medium-sized projects on their own with no junior staff assistance.
  • Takes initiative to anticipate next tasks and requires little guidance or oversight to keep the project in motion.
