Incorporating playful prisms of surrealism, futurism and fantasy, Melbourne-based Tsar Carpets’ new collection is an intentionally experimental approach to defining high-end hospitality settings.

The six distinct patterns that make up the collection feature a combination of harder-edged geometric motifs and more organic, liquid-like forms; each has a unique gradient and integrates full-spectrum to characterize the individual designs. A collaboration between designer Andrew Cenita, 3-D artist Joe Mortell and creative director Charlotte Taylor, the series includes a Gradient Mapping platform that allows designers to create custom wayfinding systems and social distancing markers, demarcate private zones from transitional spaces such as corridors and circulation areas (colourways and image scale can also be customized).

A mix of analog and digital abstraction, Aurora interprets the painterly quality of the natural phenomenon, the Aurora Borealis.

With a pattern reminiscent of dancing flames, Ember is an experimentation and abstraction that layers multiple colours and shapes to create a futuristic floor design.

One of the more geometric offerings, Lucid superimposes a rippling water-like motif with a grid of square outlines.

To create the undulating quality of Neo, a gradient-effect is applied to a simple and familiar geometric shape.

Combining shadow and light, Reveal evokes the look of dappled sunlight on cobblestone and combines a structured form with varying colour tones.

Blending earthy tones and liquid textures, Ripple has two sides – one sharply detailed, the other soft and blurred – that can be used to unobtrusively divide a room or common space.

All of the carpets in the collection are made from a yarn blend, can have various pile heights and weights and pattern repeat widths can be any size or number of carpet rolls wide.
