Chicago-based designers Lake + Wells have crafted a unique line of al fresco lights for Link Outdoors that appear more like objet d’art than high-tech beacons. The collection is comprised of five designs: Latern, Parcel, Torch, Totem and Vessel. Like its moniker suggests, Lantern translates the typology into a fluted glass diffuser enclosed in a bronze frame and completed with a tailored black handle.

Parcel, meanwhile, is defined by a sculptural form that conceals an integrated light-source washing the bronze or brass object in a subtle glow. The sturdy handle means it can be easily transported.

Similarly, Vessel embraces the idiosyncrasies of its distinct shape. A concealed LED within the frame washes the metallic frame with light, appearing like a bonfire in miniature according to the designers.

Riffing on a candlestick, Torch’s spun metal base transitions into a crystal (clear or frosted) diffuser with a charming notch detail. The light-weight lamp (in dark bronze or satin black) is available in three heights: 38, 50.8 or 66 centimetres.

Finally, Totem’s monolithic carved-teak form supports a thin metal shade that casts a sombre glow downward to not only illuminate the body, but the surrounding area as well.

Each fixture within the Passage collection is dimmable at up to three levels and fitted with a USB-rechargeable battery. They can be used both wired and wireless and are designed specifically for both indoor and outdoor use.
