Shifting Ground Symposium Thumbnail sketch drawing of abstract human

The Shifting Ground Symposium, in partnership with Craft Ontario, will deliver a two-day event organized around the theme of “Shifting Ground” and collaborating with communities, artists and arts workers who will shape the discussion with multiple design perspectives. The event will explore a myriad of intersections, from making and culture, land and materials, education, craft as subversive practice, social activism, community systems, supports and gaps, intersectional practice, values and relationships. The symposium — offered in-person and online — will foster critical engagement with craft practice, approaches and ideas.

While craft is an artistic endeavour involving the creation of objects, it is also an expanded field of relationships, where meaning is made through practice, collaboration, compromise and embodied viewpoints that act in the world.
