Linea Italia, the Mexican manufacturer of office furniture, recently collaborated with Monterrey-based JDE Design Driven Consultancy to create SETTO, a modular system of partitions and dividers for individual workstations.

JDE founder Jorge Diego Etienne developed the SETTO partitions from Linea Italia to be a solution for one of the biggest challenges to contemporary workspaces – a lack of privacy. Offering both openness and shelter, the modular system is easy to adapt in order to fit in a range of workspace settings, and enhances a sense of well-being and productivity.

As a system, the SETTO partitions are not imposing, offering instead both visual and acoustic comfort through the creation of micro-environments that effectively balance open conversation and communication with moments of introspection and solo work.

Fabricated at Linea Italia’s factory in Aguascalientes in central Mexico, the SETTO partitions are made through CNC cutting and a modular assembly of posts, panels and tops. Acoustic felt surfaces and quality laminates deliver a concise and friendly design language.

The SETTO partitions from Linea Italia are highly flexible and are able to be arranged in linear, T-shaped, X-shaped or zigzagging arrangements; built-in electrification and lightweight storage solutions can also be integrated. Available in three heights – 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8 metres – the felt-clad partitions support ergonomically sound set-ups while also introducing spatial flexibility, sound absorption and tactile interest.

Aligning with the design principles of well-being in the workspace, sustainability and inclusivity, the SETTO partitions provide thoroughly conceived solutions for visual, acoustic, territorial and privacy within a single system.
