Perkins&Will is hiring a Sustainability Advisor who holds a degree in architecture, architectural technology, interior design, engineering or a related field. You’ll be based out of their office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is an opportunity to collaborate with and lead design teams to integrate and achieve sustainable buildings objectives. Perkins&Will is looking for someone who is self-motivated with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal project teams and external consultants to develop sustainability strategies, coordinate documentation, and support certification processes (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Passive House).
- Conduct and verify sustainable building performance calculations, green product research, and analysis of health and carbon claims.
- Provide technical expertise on sustainability concepts (energy modeling, life cycle assessment, resilience, water management, thermal performance, material selection, indoor air quality, wellness, etc.).
- Prepare clear, concise reports, presentations, and technical content tailored to client objectives and project deliverables.
- Track and report on sustainability trends, policies, and programs relevant to project and corporate goals.
- Collaborate with and lead design teams to integrate high-performance, sustainable design solutions and facilitate the integrated design process.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of sustainability services.
- Mentor team members, support LEED credential maintenance, and contribute to knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Engage with industry organizations and contribute to internal initiatives to advance sustainability innovation.
- Support corporate sustainability reporting, foster innovation, and encourage new initiatives and creative ideas.
Qualifications
- Hold a degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design, Engineering or a related field to sustainable building design
- LEED AP with specialty with BD+C or ID+C preferred, in good standing.
- WELL and Fitwel credential preferred, however can be obtained within 3-6 months after hire.
- Familiarity with the US and Canadian LEED Green Building Rating Systems, Living Building Challenge, Passive House, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, CaGBC Zero Carbon Building Standard, and other sustainable design rating systems
- Familiarity with project specifications, ability to understand architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings.
- Familiarity with a range of software tools and programs such as LCA tools (i.e., Tally, Athena EIE, EC3), Rhino, Grasshopper, and/or others to support performance modeling and/or computational design assistance.
- High proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and familiarity with Revit is desirable.
