Motivo Ceramics Mutina

Childhood memories of his grandparents’ home inspired Ronan Bouroullec when designing the Motivo ceramics for Mutina, a series of modular ceramic elements that shapes interiors with lightness and depth.

Also influenced by old Scottish castles, the Motivo collection filters traditional boiserie wooden wall panelling through a contemporary lens. The ceramic system helps protect walls while also defining them, lending them depth and dimension.

Described as “an act of care,” Motivo ceramics from Mutina can create surfaces that interact with light to enrich a space without overwhelming it.

The Motivo collection is comprised of glazed double-fired 14-by-28-centimetre elements with a matte finish, one metallic element and unglazed porcelain stoneware rods in full-body coloured clays (2.8-by-28-centimetres, in T, L and end profiles).

By combining linear geometric elements with matte tiles, the Motivo system can create compelling plays of shadow and reliefs that instill walls with defining character.

Motivo was designed to complement the Mutina Paint palette to ensure visual harmony and cohesion across applications. Every element in the collection is available in six matte colours — White, Chalk, Limestone, Earth, Arctic and Graphite — and one metallic finish, Silver.

Whether covering a quarter wall, half wall or full wall, the modular ceramic system brings a pleasing symmetry and rich colour to any interior.
