The best flooring solutions allow people to be in two places at once — physically positioned in whatever environment they find themselves in, but also spiritually situated in some other, entirely different setting. This is especially true for carpeting and LVT designs that take inspiration from nature, which allows them to transport people from hotel hallways to forest trails, or from a suburban office complex to the coast of L.A. Wood flooring, meanwhile, imbues projects with natural texture that inspires feelings of warmth and comfort. Below, we collect 10 recent flooring launches that evoke the identity of the great outdoors — and stay sensitive to the environment when it comes to their materials and manufacturing processes, too.

Reverie by Shaw Contract
Consider Shaw Contract the Vivaldi of the carpeting world. With its latest hospitality collection, the flooring manufacturer introduces four dreamlike patterns inspired by the four seasons, including Autumn Wind, shown here. Each one can be customized with blends of up to 16 colours, allowing for tonal transitions between corridors and guest rooms.

Wood + Weald by Patcraft
Patcraft’s PVC-free take on resilient flooring features 25 per cent post-consumer recycled content and can be fully recycled at the end of its lifespan. Offered in a range of digitally printed wood-like patterns and colours, the scratch- and scuff-resistant planks measure 21 by 129 centimetres and are 2.5 millimetres thick.
3
SoCal by Bentley Mills
California, here we come. Bentley Mills celebrates the West Coast with a range of eight new styles, each influenced by a different corner of the Golden State. The pattern depicted below, DTLA, references “the quiet geometry” that defines the Los Angeles urban landscape. Adding to its sense of place, it’s made in California, too.
4
Mirrored Heights by Interface
Using the reflections of clouds on the glass facades of modern skyscrapers as a starting point, Interface developed a carpet tile collection that balances geometric and organic influences. Offered in eight colourways, its two patterns — Skylights and Reflective Sky — can be installed in ashlar or herringbone configurations that require no glue adhesives.
5
Smolder by J+J Flooring
Metallic yarn creates wood grain–like highlights that mimic the texture of shou sugi ban in J+J Flooring’s range of 30.5-by-122-centimetre nylon carpet tiles (offered in 10 colourways, including Ignite, shown). A coordinating collection,
Smoke, is modelled after crackling embers.

Rings by Mutina
Made by adjoining four crosscut sections of oak, Michael Anastassiades’s
design for Mutina creates a medley of mismatched concentric rings. Optional
inserts of aged délabré brass nod to the nails that often become embedded in industrial flooring. Measuring 17.5 by 17.5 centimetres and 1.5 centimetres thick, the wooden tiles are suitable for use on both walls and floors in residential and public settings alike.
2
European Ash by Anderson Tuftex
Featuring natural tones and grain variations that add to the character of a home, Anderson Tuftex’s engineered hardwood flooring is Cradle to Cradle– and Greenguard Plus–certified. Measuring 19 centimetres wide, planks are available in eight colours and lengths of up to 1.9 metres. A UV-cured aluminum
oxide finish protects from abrasion and wear.
3
Nui by Listone Giordano
Named for a Japanese word that means “to sew,” Piero Lissoni’s latest
expansion of Listone Giordano’s Natural Genius line of hardwood flooring celebrates the time-honoured practice of wood joinery by playing up seams as an intentional design detail. Choose from threevarieties: Civita 1695 Oak (shown), as well as a darker brown oak and black ash options.
4
Élément by OscarOno
Comprising just a single element, OscarOno’s latest flooring collection
can nevertheless be arranged into eight different layouts, ranging from
the simple chevron pattern shown to a wildly complex kaleidoscopic
configuration. Crafted from European oak end grain, the 112.5-by-130-mil-
limetre modules join together with a loose tongue-and-groove system and
are offered in three finishes: Natural, Smoke (shown) and Black.
5
Harmonia by Parador
Parador’s made-in-Austria engineered hardwood range utilizes production
techniques that combine brushed and sawn textures with vintage-inspired
patinas to evoke hand-finished surfaces. Tactus, shown, introduces
subtle linear patterning to achieve a rustic-meets-refined look that brings
a subtle sense of flow to hospitality circulation areas. The wide planks,
measuring 220 by 18.5 centimetres, come in seven colours.
