Kobold
Kobold by Erwan Bouroullec for Ligne Roset is a fully configurable seating system designed to grow, shift and adapt. Inspired by the clean geometry of ship cabins and the fluidity of urban living, its modules can be arranged into compact setups for intimate corners or expanded into generous lounge landscapes. The result is a piece that feels as at home in a residential loft as it does in a hotel lobby or guest suite.
At the heart of the collection are two distinct expressions: Kobold Soft and Kobold Classic. Kobold Soft offers a gently enveloping profile with low, inviting proportions and fully removable fabric covers — a feature that supports easier care and faster upkeep. Kobold Classic provides a more structured and upright posture, marked by refined piping and architectural detailing. Together, they present a versatile palette of comfort and style.
Beyond its sculptural simplicity, Kobold was engineered with longevity and contract-level durability in mind. Its internal structure pairs spruce plywood and ash veneer with high-resilience foams and pocket springs, ensuring stability in high-traffic environments. For hospitality projects, where seating must withstand constant use, this thoughtful construction provides both lasting performance and a strong return on investment.
Kobold’s modular nature also makes it uniquely suited to large-scale commercial spaces. Designers can assemble linear lounges, create meandering configurations for open lobbies, or break the system into smaller islands for co-working areas and guest lounges. Available in a wide selection of fabrics and finishes, from durable performance microfibers to luxurious wool or velvet, Kobold can be tailored to reflect a variety of aesthetics.
Adaptable, durable and effortlessly contemporary, Kobold is more than a sofa. It is a flexible seating architecture built to meet the dynamic needs of today’s modern environments.
