The new year brings many changes – and we’re excited to share with you everything that AZURE is working towards in 2026. As you may have heard, or read, AZURE was acquired by SANDOW DESIGN GROUP in December. For AZURE, the significance of this moment cannot be overestimated: We now have a more certain future, with the opportunity to grow and evolve — and thrive — under the leadership of a media brand that cares about the industry we cover as much as we do. And the pillars that uphold the AZURE brand, you’ll be happy to learn, will stay mostly the same.
As an Azure-ite with over 20 years as an editor at the magazine, I have seen both the realm of architecture and design and the world of print publishing adapt to the times. During its first 40 years, AZURE developed a digital platform rich with design stories, established an awards program of international renown and curated events that address topics of relevance to our professional audience.
Kicking off a new year and a new era, this latest evolution ensures our continued success, covering both Canadian and international projects, products and people.
Here’s a little of what we have planned for 2026:
Print and Digital
Yes, we will continue as a print publication! At AZURE, our hearts beat for the physical magazine that we’ve always produced with such excitement and energy. In 2026, we will publish four content-packed issues; the Jan/Feb 2026 issue is out now and the next edition will arrive online, on newsstands and in your mailboxes in the spring. We will also continue to publish daily content on our website, azuremagazine.com, including articles, events, job postings and more!
AZ Awards
The 16th edition of the AZ Awards is moving full steam ahead. Have you taken advantage of our early bird pricing? You have until January 23, with the final deadline being February 13. We are already planning the trophy and gala, so we expect to see your faces at our annual winners announcement in June. Plus, we’re just about to announce our jury — stay tuned!
AZURE Events
Expect to see Azure in all the usual places — IDS Toronto and DesignTO later this month, as well as the spring shows in Milan, New York and Chicago — and entirely new ones. We will keep you posted on our upcoming talks, conferences and other in-person events.
New Email, Who Dis?
Getting in touch with us: that’s the one thing that has changed. We’re now at first initial, last name @ azureonline.com. You’ll finally remember how to spell mine, epagliacolo@azureonline.com. We’d love to hear from you! As we are now working remotely, we’ll be eager to meet up for coffee dates, studio sessions and site visits.
The Bigger Picture
With SANDOW’s support, AZURE will grow in other ways as well. We are exploring new ideas and platforms for connecting our readers — design professionals like yourselves — to more informative, inspirational and networking opportunities. Keep in touch with us and the AZURE brand, through our website and newsletters, to learn about these endeavours.
