When conceiving the Ritmi collection for Radici, Milan-based designer Francesca Lanzavecchia explored the Italian textile flooring brand’s versatile ChromoProject sample range, a technology that creates high-definition, customizable printed carpets.
Finding a balance between “order and intuition” and “control and freedom,” the Ritmi collection transforms the carpet surface into a compelling landscape — each of the three patterns in the series is described by the designer known for her poetic approach as “an abstract map, a system of signs that orchestrates full and empty, light and shadow, movement and stillness.”
The three patterns that comprise the Ritmi collection from Radici are Champs, Tressage and Nouè, with each presenting the textile surface as a graphic landscape defined by vibrant colours and a rhythmic sequence of finely crafted shapes.
With Champs, an expanding visual field was realized through a series of shifting lines that align along non-orthogonal directions. The result is an irregular grid with a constantly changing visual cadence, rendered in graphic palette of saturated azure tones that are crossed by warmer hues of red, brown and beige. The geometry of the motif leans into the abstract, creating a layered and dynamic landscape.
Arriving from an exploration of rhythm and weaving, Tressage features lines that warp and overlap each other to form a three-dimensional visual texture. Solids and voids work together, lending depth and dimension, while a series of geometric marks create a fluid, non-static grid that merges compositional rigour with perceptual lightness. Cool tones of desaturated blue — from sky to pastel green — enhance the movement of the pattern, which complements contemporary interiors.
A motif of interlacing arches, circles and curved lines, Nouè has subtle but measured logic. The pattern changes perspective as one moves around it, appearing as strong and distinct from afar or as a woven surface of fine, delicate lines up close. The intense colour palette spans terracotta to cobalt blue and lends consistency to the controlled visual language.
All three patterns in the Ritmi collection from Radici are made from fully recycled ECONYL yarn, a sustainable, regenerated polyamide that can be recycled at the end of life.
