When Fritzy’s called on Prototype Design Lab to overhaul a long, narrow space into a bright interior that could withstand a high volume of customers, the firm delivered with a glowing box enlivened by dashes of colour.
The main seating area is animated by the highlighter-bright acrylic strips inserted into the wall’s white MDF panels; glimpsed through the glass storefront, the dazzling effect draws the attention of passersby. Diners can sprinkle their yogourts with toppings from the candy dispensers, produced by Acrylics by Design, and take a seat on the cherry-red stools of a long teal bar in powder-coated steel.
Many of the interior’s components were fabricated by Prototype Design Lab, which manufactures the fixtures for its various commissions, as well as original furniture pieces, in its CNC-machine equipped studio. The firm crafted the MDF wall panels, the steel bar and the Corian-topped tables opposite the turquoise banquette that runs along the rear seating area (the white resin chairs are from Montreal’s Zuo Modern). Just like the custom confections that customers can create at Fritzy’s, the shop’s interior is one of a kind.
