This spring, two renowned design institutions join forces. An established leader in outdoor design and patio furniture since 1964 — and an internationally acclaimed manufacturer in its own right — Canada’s ARD Outdoor is partnering with Spain’s Vondom to launch the celebrated Iberian brand’s first Canadian flagship. The new showroom is set to open in the heart of Toronto’s Castlefield Design District, just in time for the warm weather.
The 650-square-metre space at 1184 Castlefield Avenue, open to trade and the general public, brings Vondom’s renowned design culture a new Canadian home. Boasting a heritage of designs by the likes of Fabio Novembre, Stefano Giovannoni, Eugeni Quitllet, Ora Ïto, Ross Lovegrove, Javier Mariscal and Canada’s own Karim Rashid, the Spanish brand’s furniture epitomizes indoor-outdoor living — a testament to the careful integration of clean lines and elegant proportions with durable, weather-resistant materials and finishes.
For ARD Outdoor, the partnership exemplifies mutual values — and a shared love of design. While the two brands are joined by a commitment to elevate the functionality and style of outdoor furniture, an emphasis on sustainability increasingly shapes the common ethos. A growing focus on recycled and recyclable materials also defines both portfolios — as well as the drive to create unique, timeless and exclusive pieces.
To inaugurate the flagship showroom, a newly released series of marquee Vondom collections take centre stage. Designed by Ramón Esteve, the Gatsby series is a contemporary riff on Art Deco sophistication. Comprising a pair of table lamps, sculptural tables, planters, and modular seating, the standout collection is unified by the subtly scalloped surfaces that lend each piece both a note of texture and a glamorously understated character.
Another standout Esteve design, the expansive Factory Collection features a modular sofa, sun lounger, and lounge chair, as well as coffee and dining tables, lamps, and a showpiece daybed. Debuted at the last edition of Salone del Mobile, the series is characterized by its aluminum profile and eye-catching “deployé” mesh.
For the Tulum Collection — also launched at Salone — Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet softened the seating’s strong linearity by subtly curving the corners of the rigid frames and combining solid volumes with open voids that contribute a graphic quality. Also making its Canadian debut, Quitllet’s Africa Lounge Chair, a contemporary classic shaped by a sinuously sculpted form and a comfortable, welcoming seat that embraces the luxury of outdoor living.
