This year, instead of a star designer, Hansgrohe called on a university for this annual collaboration. ECAL students were given the challenge of using the German company’s curvy U‑Base spout, featured in Philippe Starck’s latest tap, to create their own faucets. Below are four of the illuminating results.
Carafe by Léa Pereyre and Claire Pondard
The spout of this pitcher-shaped faucet cleverly doubles as a handle.
Vanity Mirror by Thomas Elliott Burns
The relationship between water and reflection is referenced in this faucet that incorporates a mirror.
Lotus by Iris Andreadis
Inspired by a foliate form, Lotus brings nature into the bathroom, evoking calm and serenity.
Bend by Stanislaw Czarnocki and Katarzyna Kempa
The spout of this faucet is elegantly torn away from the body.
