It wasn’t an easy task but Azure’s six-member jury – composed of Imola Bérczi of UNStudio (who replaced Ben van Berkel), Jeffrey Bernett of Consultants for Design Strategy, Elaine Cecconi of Cecconi Simone, Jennifer Guthrie of Gustafson Guthrie Nichol, Mike Keilhauer of Keilhauer and Brigitte Shim of Shim-Sutcliffe Architects – met last month at Hôtel Le Germain in Toronto, and worked its way through the 621 entries from 30 countries for the second annual AZ Awards competition honouring excellence in design.
At the end of the day, the jury emerged with a list of 60 finalists. Starting tomorrow, you can vote for your favourites in the People’s Choice awards. The winning products and concepts chosen by the jury and by the public will be revealed on June 7 when the awards are handed out at a gala celebration in Toronto. To see the 13 winners, pick up our July/August issue, which hits newsstands on June 18.
