Our 2025 AZ Awards Gala at the Evergreen Brick Works marked a major milestone – as we celebrated the 15th anniversary of our international competition by fêting 26 winners and 60 finalists! These projects, interiors and products accomplish much more than formal and aesthetic achievement: They pair great design with ingenious problem solving. DWT Tiny House, which clinched our Environmental Leadership award, proposes a method for collecting and upcycling waste drywall into new building blocks for erecting much needed housing for Seattle. The winner in Built Urban Developments, START Ivry in Paris, might look like a quirky set of towers but its deeper aim is to turn the tables in favour of design-first procurement.

And then there’s Sponge Synergy by Turenscape: Once again the Beijing studio led by Kongjian Yu has conceived a landscape that’s both awesome (in the truest sense) and inventively resilient. To these and all of the standout winners of the 2025 AZ Awards – which include the Emerging winners, published separately – we raise a glass and extend a hearty congratulations!
