Ceramic design materials are known for their long lifespan, with today’s tile and surfacing products boasting a durability that ensures they will last for decades to come. In another impressive demonstration of ceramic longevity, Cersaie is now entering its fourth decade as the leading global showcase of new ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings. With that in mind, the annual international trade exhibition is set to have a banner year.

Returning to Bologna, Italy, from September 25-29, the 2023 edition of Cersaie will mark the fair’s 40th anniversary with a monumental presentation of fresh products. Nearly 140,000 square metres of exhibition space will be dedicated to the latest collections from global manufacturers including leading members of Ceramics of Italy.

Ergon’s Pigmento (in Grigio Cenere), Cardboard and Abacus (in Petrolio) offerings.

Over the years, Cersaie has developed a rich history of introducing new aesthetic trends and educating visitors about recent advances in production technology. To chart some of the fair’s past milestones, a special exhibition will be woven throughout this year’s event. Curated by designer Davide Vercelli and designed by Dario Curatolo, “Route 40” will highlight Cersaie’s important role as one of the first places to present products like gauged porcelain and super-thin outdoor pavers.

Building upon these past innovations, Cersaie 2023 will unveil no shortage of game-changing offerings throughout the fair’s creatively designed booths and stands. By casting a spotlight on new patterns, production techniques and applications, this year’s exhibitors are ready to encourage fresh perspectives on the design projects of tomorrow.

Along with featuring plenty of inspiring ceramic wallpaper options that can be installed from floor to ceiling, Cersaie 2023 will also showcase new products that can be used for both interior and exterior applications — collapsing the traditional boundary between indoors and out. Notably, all of the products presented will also possess the natural hygienic and sustainability properties associated with ceramic materials, which are easy to clean, ready to stand up to regular wear and tear, and able to be recycled at the end of their lifespan. Rounding out Cersaie’s show floor will be a full range of new bathroom products, from sinks to bathtubs.

In addition to the products on display, the fair’s conference program promises to bring together an exciting lineup of speakers. Past editions of Cersaie have seen a dozen Pritzker Prize laureates take the stage, and this year’s Building, Dwelling, Thinking keynote lectures are sure to include an equally prestigious group of star personalities once announced.

With so much on offer at Cersaie 2023, the essential role that ceramic products play in the design process has never been more apparent.

Cersaie is promoted by Confindustria Ceramica in collaboration with BolognaFiere, organized by Edi.Cer. SpA with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperations and the Italian Trade Agency.
