Students of New York’s Pratt Institute launch their latest accessories collection – full of sunglass motifs and other references to the cool kids – in partnership with Barnes & Noble.

Master’s candidates at the Pratt Institute have partnered with Barnes & Noble to create the “For Students by Students” project. Ten grad students have come up with a line of graphic journals, notebooks, pencil cases and other back-to-school items in shades red, orange and turquoise. The collection is available at over 400 Barnes & Noble stores and online at BN.com.

The annual collaborative project between retailer and students is an opportunity for budding talents to see how accessory lines can make their way from concept to marketplace, and also to find out if they have the right chops. To be considered for the team, students must complete their second semester and demonstrate interest in surface design, materials, construction or 3-D forms. In exchange, they receive hands-on experience, from designing for a commercial client to learning about production techniques.
