Jade Green tile trend at Coverings 2026

In 2026, the tile industry seems to be at a creative inflection point. Where manufacturers once played up format and finish, tactility, expression and material innovation are now key selling points. At Coverings — North America’s largest tile expo, taking place from March 30-April 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre — ceramics promise to beckon beyond surface-level appeal, with textures that invite touch and patterns that speak with narrative quality. There’s a thoughtful tension at work, too — between craft and technology, nostalgia and futurism — suggesting that the field is embracing both heritage and experimentation. Collectively, the trends emerging at Coverings 2026 point to tile not just as a finishing material, but as a medium for storytelling, spatial atmosphere and sensory engagement at every scale. Explore the trends we’re most excited about below.

Tile as Art

While all tiles are works of art in their own right, this season’s launches take that notion to the next level. Moving beyond the role of tile as a simple cladding material, standout collections are making a bold design statement: Take Nesting Room, Moooi’s surfacing debut with ABK, which features larger-than-life bird motifs, including Cloistered Dove (shown) and Hypnotic Owl. Mind you, this collection might be a bit out there for even the most daring designers, but manufacturers are showcasing options that allow you to embrace this trend at any comfort level — from understated wallpaper alternatives like Showall, a dainty floral pattern from Serenissima Ceramica, to Ceramica Bardelli’s Aquatic Creatures line, which includes an intricate, mural-like illustration of Atlantis City.

Micro-Illusions

Wallpaper formats are no stranger to the show floor at Coverings, but this year’s launches demonstrate how you can achieve a similar effect with small-format offerings, mimicking large-scale surfaces and intricate mosaics. Decocer’s Senda collection is a case in point, combining glossy and matte surfaces to create a layered, dimensional feel. Other collections, meanwhile, leverage precision scoring, digital printing and colour-matched grout to create high-impact designs that are not only easier to install but also more cost-effective. Whether planning a feature wall or a dramatic floorscape, these collections prove that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

3
Tailored Craft

The tile industry is always evolving to embrace modern technologies, but that doesn’t mean it’s losing sight of its roots in traditional craft. In the world of AI, there is something pleasing about a surface that values considered design over fleeting trends, embracing time-honoured materials and techniques. MILEstone’s Shapes collection is a standout, riffing on the now-ubiquitous wood-look tile with a multi-tone herringbone pattern that evokes the tailored elegance and quiet luxury of menswear. The result is timeless yet playful, bringing character to a space that feels both rooted in nostalgia and completely of the moment.

Surface Technologies & Haptic Experience

Among the latest innovations in tile, surface treatments have been some of the most impactful, allowing designers to achieve ever more immersive effects without sacrificing performance. Matte-glossy contrasts, like CIR Ceramiche’s Forever Color collection, are increasingly popular, while advanced glazing chemistry and digital production techniques allow finishes to shift with the light, perspective and angle to create dynamic, immersive interiors — and also add slip resistance or silky-touch effects. But when it comes to tile, beauty is more than skin deep. The next generation of ceramic surfaces responds to and engages with all the senses. Plus, sculptural reliefs, bas-relief textures, ridges and embossed patterns add an extra layer of dimension that invites interaction.

Jade Terrain

Green was the colour of the moment back when we visited Coverings in 2023, and it seems to be making a resurgence. This year’s collections are embracing a jade-like hue in patterns that capture the depth of the precious stone. The effect is perhaps most dramatic in Grespania’s Jade collection — a graphic slab that epitomizes luxury, blending soft pastel greens with shadowy black accents. But beyond stone-look options, the trend extends to monochromatic subway tiles and two-tone mosaics that are quieter, but no less impactful. Endlessly versatile and the perfect complement to a palette of neutrals, this shade of green is equally capable of imbuing a welcome sense of serenity or a making bold statement.
