The architect and designer at UNStudio, in Amsterdam, who has just completed the W.I.N.D. house among many other projects in the Netherlands and around the world, shares what he’s reading, watching and surfing.
Reading I just read The Social Animal, by David Brooks. It’s a beautiful story of two couples who are incredibly happy, but everything is explained through social science – a very nice combination of non-fiction and novel.
Watching I liked “Her” so much. I appreciated Spike Jonze’s vision of what life could be like in five to 10 years’ time. Architects might not make such a prediction of the future, but this is how they should work. It’s a wonderful way of getting inspired.
Surfing Shareyourmeal.net is a terrific concept for those who live alone. It connects you with other people in your neighbourhood, then everyone brings food and eats together. I like the idea that new forms of efficiency can still take place in our culture.
