The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

A single sheet of aluminum, laser cut and formed into shape. For designer Frank Crawford, this elegantly simple vision was the genesis of a new outdoor furniture collection that seamlessly combines graceful style with uncompromising function. Appropriately dubbed ALUM, the aluminum collection by Maglin Site Furniture is distinguished by a slim profile and captivatingly clean lines, all wrapped in a rust-proof, weather-ready material.

Comprising a cafe chair and matching table as well as a lounge chair and footrest, the ALUM series is available in a pair of distinctive laser etched patterns of circles and lines — Prosseco and Empire — along with a selection of 14 crisp, eye-catching colourways.

The combination of sleek contours and pure aluminum design lends the ALUM collection a versatile aesthetic, resulting in furnishings suitable for school campuses, retail and commercial uses, as well as a range of hospitality and mixed-use environments. What’s more, the sturdy yet relatively light-weight furnishings can easily be mixed and matched to suit evolving needs, marrying day-to-day flexibility with long-term performance.

“We wanted a furniture family that easily responded to a variety of settings,” says Ian McAskile, CEO of Maglin Site Furniture. “ALUM invites an air of casual elegance that belongs in both indoor and outdoor environments, and it’s perfect for settings where mobility of seating and table arrangements are valued.”

According to Crawford, the rigorously focused, streamlined design also makes for a more sustainable — and durable — end result. “We developed the ALUM series to satisfy two equally important design intentions,” explains the designer.” First, we wanted to produce durable, attractive, and comfortable seating. The fact that we’re able to minimize material waste while simplifying fabrication makes it a collection we can all be very proud of.”

And while the streamlined design allows for a lighter — and less carbon-intensive — form, the 100 per cent recyclable aluminum furniture also facilitates a sustainable life-cycle. But with a design this versatile and eye-catching, ALUM promises a showpiece presence for years — and decades — to come.
