In any living space, the careful layering of scales, textures and proportions is vital to creating a comfortable — and aesthetically coherent — ambiance. When it comes to outdoor living, however, the fine details of residential design tend to become simplified into more durable, mobile, and weather-ready forms. Fortunately, Ligne Roset‘s outdoor collection is a thoughtful exception. From seating and lighting to side tables and accent pieces, the French brand’s growing yet carefully curated — and characteristically elegant — selection ensures that its sophisticated style elevates al fresco settings all year round.

Ligne Roset’s Valmer collection comprises a sofa as well as an occasional and side table.

Like any living space, a great outdoor room is anchored by seating. Introduced in 2023, Ligne Roset’s Valmer collection is an understated standout, courtesy of Vienna’s Guggenbichler Design. Thanks to its ultra-light aluminum structure, the Valmer sofa boasts modular versatility, allowing it to seamlessly transition from bench to corner sofa to sun lounger, accommodating a variety of settings. Distinguished by its softness and rich texture, the seat cover fabric is crafted with Sunproof’s Olefin fabric to ensure exceptional durability against the elements while offering unparalleled comfort, making it equally well-suited to entertaining or to lounging after a swim or gardening session.

Available in a variety of colourways, the Valmer sofa’s aluminum frame is distinguished by its hand-braided rope.

While the sleek, clean lines and sumptuous fabrics would not be out of place in an indoor setting, the Valmer sofa’s rugged lacquered aluminum and rope frame — which is carefully hand-braided in Indonesia — stands up to the toughest outdoor conditions. Expanding the series, a recently introduced low table and occasional table (both of which combine a stable surface with easy mobility) continue the rope-braided vocabulary and broaden the possibilities of outdoor living.

Mescal rug.

To round out an al fresco living room, Ligne Roset’s Mescal rug brings a relaxing residential ambiance to any outdoor space. Handwoven in 100 per cent PET, the intricately patterned rug (which measures 200 by 300 centimetres) is made with up to 85 recycled water bottles. Meanwhile, the Mescal cushion translates the same eye-catching pattern — which is available in a variety of colours — to the sofa, making for a well-placed accent. And it’s no lightweight. Belying the complexity of the hand-woven design, the hypoallergenic and stain-resistant textile is easy to clean and resistant to the elements.

The intricately patterned Mescal pillows are a versatile complement to the textured monochrome Valmer sofa fabric.

As for the evening hours? Originally conceived as a bespoke outdoor lighting solution for the Hôtel Nô rooftop in Lyon, Ligne Roset’s Dôt is designed by Rémi Bouhaniche. The highly portable, sleek and minimalist luminaire that can be positioned around a terrace or hooked to an elevated surface alongside a dining table. In any setting, it cultivates a welcoming and warm ambiance.

The simple Dôt can be used as a floor or table lamp, while its hook also allows it be attached to an elevated surface.

While Dôt makes a well-appointed complement to the Valmer sofa and tables, it looks every bit at home alongside the Noomi dining table. An unfussy indoor-outdoor design by Tous Les Trois, the bistro-inspired Noomi features an innovative tilting top, which allows it to effortlessly slide into compact storage areas, making it a practical solution for seasonal needs.

The Noomi dining table, Oona chairs, and Dôt lamp complete an easy al fresco trio.

Designed by Christian Werner, Ligne Roset’s Oona dining chairs complete the perfect pairing. Crafted with precision in Indonesia, the UV-resistant synthetic rattan seats combine material innovation with centuries-old techniques passed down through generations of local artisans. The woven black rattan is complemented by slender yet robust lacquered legs, making for another practical yet design-driven addition to outdoor life. True to the Ligne Roset philosophy, it is an epitome of both sophistication and durability.
