The annual showcase of the latest and greatest office and contract furnishings returns to The Mart in Chicago on June 13 to 15. Nienkämper will be amongst the hundreds of exhibitors on the NeoCon show floor, showing off new and innovative new products. Here’s a sneak peek at what the manufacturer will be revealing.
Designed by London-based design studio Busk+Hertzog, Mint is a triangular stool that can be used as a seat or ottoman. Its tapered base, rounded corners and light weight make it perfect for small spaces, like breakout areas and hallways, and for quick positioning in impromptu meetings or gatherings. Mint is available in grey, yellow and a dusty blue.
This new collection, by Toronto industrial design firm Fig40, was designed to meet the needs of the modern workspace: flexibility and integration. Comprised of modular tables, desks, bookcases and credenzas, and available in a variety of mixed materials and finishes, Cern can be mixed and matched to create individual offices, collaborative work areas, room dividers and storage solutions.
Cern “evolved from the private office, to furniture that can be flexible enough to create individual work spaces, room division, height adjustability and varied levels of privacy,” says designer Lee Fletcher.
This stool was designed with height-adjustable desks in mind, allowing users to comfortably move between low and high working positions. It’s supportive at both a seated and standing height, and can be adjusted to accommodate upright and relaxed postures.
Another flexible collection for contract environments, this Busk+Hertzog-designed conference table and desk integrates power, data and video connectivity, and can be adapted for open-plan layouts and meeting rooms. Table tops are available in wood veneer or laminate, and legs are available in clear anodized aluminum, fully polished aluminum or a painted powder coat finish with a contrasting colour inset.
This eclectic but elegant table packs a lot of functionality into a small footprint. Its design, by II BY IV DESIGN, allows easy adjustments for height and tabletop size — an expandable version can double in surface area. Its sculptural shape is available in a variety of powder coated finishes, and tabletops are offered in laminate or wood veneer.
Named for designer Evan Bare, this chair and sofa references Danish furniture design of the 1950s and 60s, while remaining contemporary and new. Its generous cushioning is supported by a simple maple frame with clean lines. Bare is suited to home or contract environments, where it makes for elegant seating in reception and lobby areas.
Nienkämper celebrates its 50th anniversary next year and in anticipation, the company is reissuing some of its iconic designs — like Lollipop, a tandem seat designed by the late Robin Bush.
Lollipop was released in the 1960s and was used extensively in airports of the era. Its simple aesthetic, generous round seat and back and use of colour still feels contemporary and fresh. With a variety of hues and combinations available, Lollipop allows for a multitude of configurations.
Note is a modern reimagining of the club chair. With faceted sides, gently curved armrests and comfortable cushioning, it’s both inviting and curious, and well-suited to all environments — public spaces, offices, and private residences. Busk+Hertzog finished the seat with contrast stitching and precisely finished edges.
The elegant seating and table collection from Nienkämper was inspired by the late, great Philip Johnson’s designs for the Four Seasons restaurant in New York. Intended for dining and lounging, 32 (which refers to table number 32 in the restaurant, where Johnson often held court), features tufted upholstery upon solid bar stock metal frames
This mobile, folding table is a new addition to the existing Vox collection. For office spaces where space is at a premium, the Vox Folding table offers a highly flexible, space-saving solution. Once a meeting has been cleared away, the table can be folded and rolled into storage in seconds. It’s available in a range of sizes and shapes, and in two base styles.
