June 19: Fala Atelier
Based in Porto, Fala Atelier was founded by Filipe Magalhães, Ana Luisa Soares and Ahmed Belkhodja in 2013. Since then, the Portuguese firm has gone on to develop a unique portfolio defined by a graphic handling of colour, form and material. “In a fast-paced world,” explains the studio, “our main challenge is to remain naïve, to not lose track of why we became architects.”
Their work has been published widely and is the subject of the monograph fala 01. The studio is also known for their evocative renderings, which mix techniques borrowed from early abstract painting and collage with more traditional forms of drawing, that carry through in their portfolio of residential structures.
