This week, Toronto lighting dealer Standard Shop announced that Tom Dixon is joining its portfolio of venerable design brands. To mark the milestone, we’re teaming up with Standard Shop to give away one of our favourite recent Tom Dixon designs, the Bell portable lamp. (We love the lamp so much, we even included it in our holiday gift guide.)

In the world of lighting design, Tom Dixon is something of a rock star — literally. The British designer spent the ’80s playing bass before he began to experiment with welded salvage furniture. In 2002, he completed his career pivot by founding his own design brand. That said, he has still been known to take the stage at the occasional product launch.

Like any enduring musician, he’s also moved through his fair share of creative eras in the years since, evolving from the industrial look of early lighting collections like Beat to the science lab stylings of more recent ranges like Melt. Lately, he’s been on a bit of a pop kick, delivering high-gloss hits like Bell.

The domed cordless design features a rechargeable battery that offers up to 9 hours of illumination and includes a touch dimmer function. We’re offering it in a fiery Fluoro orange hue that ensures maximum impact.
