Named after the Japanese translation for “bead on a ring,” Tamawa naturally gained popularity four years ago for the rings and cufflinks it embellished with tiny Bakelite beads.
Since then, collaborations with designers such as Sylvain Willenz and Big Game have yielded minimalist yet functional pieces including a coat rack and table lamp. Founder Hubert Verstraeten’s latest piece reinterprets the Bakelite orb as a case for the sleek TW35 40 watch. Tamawa’s next collection is slated for unveiling in September – just in time for Maison&Objet.
The studio’s products are now available through Skitsch‘s Milan HQ (+39 02 36633065) and its new showroom in London (+44 (0) 20 7589 1154).
