We hear sounds — but sometimes we can see them, too. In a memorable Jurassic Park scene, two water cups perched on a car dashboard begin to tremble as a T-Rex starts its approach in the distance. Meanwhile, wall and ceiling acoustic solutions have a way of making a space look quiet — but that doesn’t need to mean boring. Sure, NRC-rated panels may primarily function as a way to combat noise, but they can just as easily amp up a space’s personality in the process. Here are 10 designs that bolster peace and quiet while still making a strong visual impact.
Wall Solutions

1
Hush Clad by 3form Elements
3form Elements can print these 244-by-122-centimetre panels, which are made from 50 per cent post-consumer recycled PET, with custom or pre-existing designs, including the leaf pattern shown. Optional bevel cuts add an extra sense of depth by revealing the base colour of an underlying layer.

2
Bloom by Slalom
Take time to stop and smell the flowers with Slalom’s panels, offered in sizes measuring 59.5 by 59.5 or 280 by 136 centimetres. Manufactured from a blend of flax and viscose, each one features a unique arrangement of flower petals treated at high temperatures to remove their allergens.

3
Emboss by Zintra
Zintra revives craft traditions with a collection of 18 new designs. Stitch (shown) frames a grid of embossed squares with rows of stitching and features a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 0.35. Made from 100 per cent recyclable materials, the 274-by-112-centimetre panels are certified by Declare, Greenguard and HPD.

4
Barcelona by Turf
Digital design tools allow Turf to calibrate its stone-look finishes to stretch across multiple 244-by-112-centimetre panels with seamless bookmatching and minimal pattern repetition. Installed using Z-clips, the collection features an NRC of 0.85. A vertical panel, Monolith, is also available.

5
Ecoustic Bio by Unika Vaev
Crafted from 100 per cent bio-based materials derived from hemp, flax and agricultural by-products, Unika Vaev’s Ecoustic Bio tiles are offered in two shapes: a flat design, and a curved elliptical one that can be arranged in a variety of ways to create sculptural feature walls. Both styles achieve an NRC of 0.85.
Ceiling Solutions

1
GiosFelt Clouds by Akouo Acoustics
Akouo Acoustics sees peace and quiet in your next project’s forecast. Three sizes of ceiling clouds — each measuring 12 millimetres thick — are offered in six shapes, including the cumulus-like quatrefoil design featured. NRC ratings range from 0.45 to 0.85.

2
Crest by Acoufelt
Acoufelt modelled its sculptural ceiling elements after billowing ocean waves, developing a rounded shape that is both sound-absorbing and visually calming. Choose colours from the manufacturer’s Premier and WoodGrain collections, with customizable sizing.

Gradi by MPS Acoustics
MPS Acoustics brings three-dimensional depth and noise-cancelling power to standard 2.4-centimetre T-grid ceiling systems. Square tiles measure 60.9 by 60.9 centimetres, with depths ranging from five to 20.3 centimetres. Depending on the final configuration, acoustic absorption can reach an NRC of up to 1.30.

4
SLOT Diagonal by FACT Design
FACT Design’s zigzagging panels slice across ceilings with all the visual thrill (and, thanks to optional integrated lighting, even some of the glow) of lightning, yet none of the noise of thunder. Tiles slot into 1.4- or 2.4-centimetre T-grids, allowing for fully concealed installs in the latter.

5
Stratawood 2×2 by Fräsch
Fräsch’s signature ceiling panels combine the warmth of linear wood slats with the acoustic performance of PET felt. A recent expansion to the line introduced a new 60-by-60-centimetre size that fits into common T-grid ceilings. Offered with a variety of veneers, Stratawood 2×2 boasts an NRC rating of 0.80.
