Interior High Notes: Residential wonders in Atlanta, Whistler, Milan and more in Azure's September 2019 issue!

Spanning over three and a half days and showcasing more than 200 exhibitors, this year’s IDS West promises to pull out all the stops. Taking center stage tonight, Tom Dixon’s pop-up bar is decked out with his Jack lights, Slab tables and Fluoro stools. Presented by Vancouver’s Inform Interiors, the bar will exude a “dockside atmosphere,” a fitting ambiance given the city’s locale.

As expected, the show is a launching pad for a series of new products, including local design firm Mth’s BloomX coffee tables, made from salvaged western red cedar tree stumps and birch branches, and Wippowillow’s hand drawn and silkscreened eco-friendly textiles.

Among IDS West’s top hits are L41 and Studio North. L41, a tiny 20-square-feet factory-built home that’s delivered move-in ready, will be on display. Constructed by architect Michael Katz and designer Janet Corne, L41 is a case study in how a home can be affordable, sustainable and luxurious all at once. At Studio North, find emerging design firms, including Vancouver’s Edgewater Studio, who specialize in handmade stone, metal and wood tiles.

The highlight of this year’s show, however, is definitely the speaker line-up. On Friday afternoon, learn what lighting designer Jeremy Cole finds inspiring and how he tells stories through his work. That evening, the U.K.’s lighting maestro Ross Lovegrove takes to the stage and later on, Vancouver’s Omer Arbel, famous for his Bocci lights, will discuss his design and srchitecture process. On Sunday, interior designer and fashion icon Barbara Hulanicki, founder of the iconic London fashion shop Biba, speaks about her interior projects, including a luxury resort in Jamaica.

Interior Design Show West runs until October 2.
