Bodegas Vinival by TerraViva is a new architecture competition inviting designers to transform an industrial space into a dynamic cultural hub inspired by Las Fallas de Valencia. Prizes up to 10,000€ will be awarded to the winners selected by an international jury panel.
Brief
Designers tasked with reimagining the Antiguas Bodegas Vinival, a mid-20th-century wine production complex, into a cultural hub. Designers should preserve the structural skeleton of the Bodegas and reimagine its interiors and surrounding landscape through adaptive reuse strategies. The project should capture the spirit of Las Fallas—Valencia’s festival of fire and renewal—merging trade with innovation.
The proposed space should be a flexible cultural centre that functions year-round, supporting exhibitions, workshops, performances and public gatherings indoors and out, and celebrate the site’s history and future cultural expression.
Guidelines
- Designs must preserve the Bodega’s main structural frame, but internal elements can be removed or reimagined.
- The surrounding area—soon to be cleared—offers fertile ground for new urban and landscape interventions.
- Interiors should be reconfigured for maximum flexibility using modular or retractable elements, while the exteriors should promote connectivity, inclusion and usability in Valencia’s Mediterranean climate.
