Hunnu City Design Competition 2025 poster

The Hunnu City Urban Planning Competition 2025 is an international open competition that will focus on the principles of smart, green, and sustainable urban planning, integrating Mongolia’s historical heritage and culture with global development trends.

For the Hunnu City design competition, participants are invited to propose an urban planning concept for a designated site aimed at developing a city that is smart, green, resilient to climate change risks, human-centred and promotes a high quality of life. Incorporating Mongolian history and culture, emphasize the city’s identity by blending the historical heritage of the Hunnu Empire and Mongolia’s traditional culture with modern architectural and urban planning solutions to create a globally recognizable brand.

Submission Requirements

The submission requirements will be sent to each participant after registering on their website.

Eligibility

  • The Hunnu City design competition is open to both domestic and international professional organizations, teams, and individuals.
  • Each team must consist of at least five members and should include key professionals such as urban planners, landscape architects, architects, and engineers.
  • Team compositions can be modified until the registration deadline.
  • Collaboration between domestic and international experts is encouraged; however, individuals or organizations are not allowed to participate in more than one team.

Prizes

  • 1st prize: 600,000,000 MNT
  • 2nd prize: 400,000,000 MNT
  • 3rd prize: 200,000,000 MNT
  • Honourable mentions (2): 200,000,000 MNT total
